February 27 Randy Bissen, Buena Vista, Sr., F
Averaged 17.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game during the Conference Tournament, leading the Beavers to their fourth straight Tournament title. In a 103-80 quarterfinal victory over Central, scored 24 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had five steals, two blocks and two assists. Had double-doubles in the semifinals and finals, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds against Luther, and scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the Championship game against Wartburg. In the 77-62 win over Luther, also had two assists and one steal. In the 79-68 win over Wartburg, had four assists.
February 20 Jordan Atchison, Wartburg, Sr., G
Averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in two contests during the week as the Knights clinched their 20th Conference title and first since 2000-01. Shot 70.0 percent (14-of-20) from the field, including 3-of-6 from behind the three-point arc, and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line. Against Cornell, scored 23 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had four assists and three steals. Scored 17 points, grabbed three rebounds, and had three assists and three steals in a losing effort against Buena Vista, Wartburg’s only Conference loss of the season.
February 13 Mike Cameron, Buena Vista, Sr., F
Averaged 19.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in three contests during the week. Shot 68.8 percent (22-of-32) from the field including 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from behind the three-point arc, and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the free throw line. scored 14 points (on 6-of-12 shooting) and grabbed four rebounds against Loras. Against Luther, scored 18 points (on 6-of-10 shooting), grabbed five rebounds, and had three blocks, two steals and two assists. Scored a career-high 27 point, connecting on all 10 field goals including six three-pointers, in an 80-65 victory over Dubuque. In that contest, also had three rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal.
February 6 Kyle White, Loras, Fr., F
Averaged 15.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in three contests during the week. He shot 68.0 percent (17-of-25) from the field and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line Opened the week with 10 points (4-of-7 shooting) and eight rebounds against Cornell. Against Dubuque, scored a career-high 22 points (8-of-11 shooting), grabbed 11 rebounds, had an assist, a block and a steal. Finished the week with 13 points (5-of-7 shooting) four rebounds, five steals and a block against Luther.
January 30 Jason Steege, Wartburg, Jr., G
Averaged 19.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in three contests during the week. He shot 53.1 percent (17-of-32) from the floor including 50 percent (7-of-14) from behind the three point arc, and shot 81.8 percent from the free throw line (18-of-22). Scored 15 points (on 4-of-7 shooting), grabbed two rebounds, and had two assists and one steal against Simpson. In a battle of Conference unbeaten against Loras, scored 31 points (on 9-of-15 shooting), had two steals, one rebound and one assist. Finished the week with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal against Central.
January 23 Nick Thomas, Dubuque, So., F
Averaged 32.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game in two contests during the week. He shot 42.3 percent (22-of-52) from the floor and 81.0 percent (17-of-21) from the free throw line. Scored 38 points (on 13-of-28 shooting), grabbed nine rebounds and had eight steals in 33 minutes in a losing effort against Simpson. In Dubuque’s victory over Cornell, scored 27 points (on 9-of-24 shooting and 8-of-8 from the free throw line), grabbed six rebounds, had three steals and two assists.
January 16 Nate Schmidt, Wartburg, Jr., C
Averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.0 steals per game in three contests during the week. He shot 61.5 percent from the floor (24-of-39) and 85.7 percent from the free throw line (12-of-14). Scored 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting, had four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal as the Knights beat Buena Vista for the first time since 2002-03. Against Central, scored 20 points on 10-of-14 shooting, grabbed three rebounds and had two steals. Scored a career-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting against Coe. He also had seven rebounds and three blocks in that contest.
January 9 Jeff Ludovissy, Loras, Sr., G
Averaged 20.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in two contests during the week. Shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the field including 77.8 percent (7-of-9) from behind the three-point arc, and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from the free throw line in victories over Coe (70-59) and Luther (71-60). Scored 25 points, on 10-of-16 shooting (4-of-5 on threes), had two steals, one assist and one rebound against Coe. Led four Duhawk double-digit scorers against Luther with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting (3-of-4 on threes). He also had four rebounds and four assists.
January 2 Jason Parkinson, Simpson, So., G
Averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks in two games at the adidas D-3 Desert Shootout as the Storm finished second in their bracket. Shot 43.8 percent from the floor (14-of-32) including 57.1 percent from behind the three-point arc (8-of-14), and 81.3 percent from the free throw line (13-of-16) in a 62-61 victory over Mount St. Mary and an 82-69 loss to Ripon. Scored 19 points (6-of-16 shooting), grabbed three rebounds and had a block against Mount St. Mary. Followed that performance with a career-high 30 points (8-of-16 from the field, 5-of-8 on 3-pointers), four rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in a losing effort against Ripon.
December 19 Clint Driftmier, Central, So., C
Scored 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 19 minutes against MacMurray. Connected on 12-of-14 field goals (85.7 percent) and 3-of-5 free throws (60.0 percent) in Central’s 119-92 victory. Also had two blocks, an assist and a steal.
December 12 Jeff Ludovissy, Loras, Sr., G
Scored 21 points, grabbed three rebounds, had three steals and two assists in the Duhawks’ 80-66 victory over Franciscan. Shot 62.5 percent (5-of-8) from the floor, including 3-of-4 from behind the three-point arc, and 8-of-11 from the free throw line.
December 5 Nick Thomas, Dubuque, So., F
Averaged 30.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in two contests during the week. Shot 42.9 percent (18-of-42) from the floor including 57.9 percent (11-of-19) on three pointers, and he shot 87.5 percent (14-of-16) from the free throw line in a loss to Loras (84-74) and a victory over Calumet (83-66). In the Conference-opener against Loras, scored 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting (4-of-8 behind the arc). Scored 38 points on 11-of-24 shooting (7-of-11 behind the arc) against Calumet to go along with three rebounds, three steals and two assists.
November 28 Dan McClanahan, Cornell, Sr., F
Averaged 38.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games during the week. Shot 68.3 percent from the floor (28-of-41) and 69.0 percent from the free throw line (20-of-29) in victories over Grinnell (125-119) and MacMurray (116-99). Against Grinnell, scored a school-record 51 points on 21-of-27 shooting from the floor and 9-of-14 shooting from the free throw line to go along with 14 rebounds (6-8) and seven assists. Followed that performance with a 25-point, six-rebound (3-3), two-assist game against MacMurray, shooting 7-of-14 from the floor and 11-of-15 from the line.
November 21 Randy Bissen, Buena Vista, Sr., F
Recorded back-to-back double-doubles in the Beavers two opening weekend victories. He averaged 15.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in victories over Wisconsin-LaCrosse (71-61) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire (70-60).
