Wartburg's Hannah Baker Selected as IIAC's NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee
(Cedar Rapids, Iowa, June 28, 2010) — Recent Wartburg College graduate and former track & field student-athlete Hannah Baker has been named the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s nominee for the 2010 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors senior student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership. Following cuts in both August and September, the winner will be announced at a dinner in Indianapolis on October 17, 2010.

Five IIAC Schools Earn AVCA Team Academic Award
(Lexington, Ky., July 21, 2010) —The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)
announced today that 450 teams, including squads from five Iowa
Conference institutions, have earned the AVCA Team Academic
Award for the 2009-2010 season. This number once again eclipses
the previous years' total of 409 and sets a new all-time high
for this award.

WBCA Announces 2010 Academic Top 25
Simpson, Luther in Top 10
(Atlanta, July 20, 2010) — The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its winners for the 2009-10 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. This award, given in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches. Simpson and Luther both finished in the top 10 in NCAA Division III.

Andres Leza Named Cornell Director of Soccer
(Mount Vernon, July 19, 2010) — Andres Leza, a member of two conference championship teams at Macalester and recent assistant coach at Clarke, has been named Cornell College’s Director of Women’s and Men’s Soccer. Leza replaces Derek Bell, who resigned in June after one season leading both Cornell soccer programs.
