Feb. 25

Geoff Kaiser, Loras College, Horicon, Wis./Horicon
Kaiser, a senior, was named Iowa Conference Most Valuable Performer after scoring 37 points for the Conference Champion Duhawks. He won the long jump (7.10 meters) and triple jump (14.16 meters) with NCAA provisional qualifying marks in both events. He also placed third in the 600-meter run (1:23.90) and seventh in the 55-meter hurdles (7.97 seconds), and was a member of the fourth-place finishing 4x200 relay team (1:31.78) and the fifth-place finishing 4x400 relay team (3:26.8).

Feb. 18

Russell Harris, Wartburg College, Chicago, Ill./Lyons Township
Harris, a freshman, narrowly missed NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 60-meter hurdles and the 55-meter hurdles. At the University of Iowa Invitational, Harris won the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.48 seconds, 19/100ths of a second shy of the NCAA qualifying standard. The following day, he placed second in the 55-meter hurdles at the UW-Platteville Open in a time of 7.82 seconds, 7/100ths of a second off a qualifying time.

Feb. 11

Guy Dierikx, Central College, Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale
Dierikx, a junior, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash at Buena Vista’s Dennis Young Classic. His time of 49.16 seconds is currently fifth in Division III. Dierikx also ran a 48.9 second lead leg on the second-place finishing 4x400 relay team (3:24.9).

Feb. 4

Eric Bertelsen, Buena Vista Univ. Polk City, Iowa/North Polk
Bertelsen, a sophomore, finished in the top-five of four events at Cornell’s Hilltop Open with personal bests in three of the four events. He won the 200-meter dash and the long jump with marks of 22.68 seconds and 6.85 meters, respectively. In his first time competing in the 55-meter dash, he finished fifth with a time of 6.60 seconds. Bertelsen was a also a member of the 4x400 relay team that finished second with a time of 3:29.72 including his split of 52.1 seconds.

Jan. 28

Jeanriles Metezier, Univ. of Dubuque, Pompano Beach, Fla./Coconut Creek
Metezier, a sophomore, won two events at the UW-Whitewater Invitational, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships with a 6.48-second finish in the 55-meter dash and winning the 200-meter dash with a time 23.05 seconds.

Jan. 21

Brad O’Neil, Coe College, Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft
O’Neil, a junior, broke a 21-year-old school record in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:52.83 at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Open, eclipsing the old mark by three seconds.

Jan. 14

Rich Elings, Simpson College, Clive, Iowa/West Des Moines Valley
Elings, a senior, was a two-time winner at the Graceland Invitational, posting a winning time of 1:15.93 in the 600-yard dash and running on the winning 4x400 relay team (3:36.34).
