March 22, 2002 TWO IOWA CONFERENCE SIDS WIN NATIONAL AWARDS MOUNT
VERNON, IA . . . Two
Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Sports Information
Directors were among the winners of the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA) Publication Contest announced this
week. Central
College’s Larry Happel was
second in the nation in Division C (NCAA Division III, Canadian
Schools, NAIA and Junior Colleges) for his 2001 Football game
program. Simpson
College’s Matt Turk was
fifth in the nation in Division C for his 2001 Volleyball media
guide. “Matt
and Larry are two of the outstanding Sports Information Directors in
the Iowa Conference. SIDs
are some of the most committed, hard working people in
intercollegiate athletics. For
the majority of the year, they’re never allowed the luxury of
looking at the clock and have no free weekends,” IIAC Commissioner
John Cochrane said.
“The Iowa Conference is fortunate to have a group of 10
individuals that represent their profession with a great deal of
passion and distinction. Congratulations
to Matt and Larry for their excellent work on behalf of their
institution and the Conference.” CoSIDA announced the Publication Contest winners for excellence in production of football media guides, football game programs, volleyball media guides, cross country media guides, men’s soccer media guides and men’s basketball media guides. Winners in each category are selected by a panel of three judges who work in the field of print media, electronic media, graphics/designing, sports information or printing. -30- |
