CENTRAL’S WHITE AND WARTBURG’S DOHLMAN NAMED IIAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
FOUR OTHERS RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS

MOUNT VERNON, IA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today the Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, April 14, 2002.  Central College golfer Tim White (Princeton, IL/Princeton HS) was selected IIAC Male Athlete of the Week and Wartburg College track performer Dia Dohlman (Eldora, IA/Eldora-New Providence HS) was selected IIAC Female Athlete of the Week.

White, a junior, finished first in the 80-golfer field at the Wartburg Invitational won by Central.  He shot an opening round 72 and followed that with a 68 to finish the 36-hole tournament with a 4-under par, 140.  White finished just three strokes off the school’s 36-hole meet record.

Dohlman, a sophomore, won two events at the Wartburg Select meet automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championship in the javelin and provisionally qualifying in the heptathlon.  The defending NCAA National Champion in the javelin throw, she automatically qualified for the 2002 Championship with a 141’-10” throw to win the event by over 32 feet.  Participating in the heptathlon for the first time in her collegiate career, she posted a score of 4,101.  Her heptathlon results include a 17.6-second run in the 100-meter hurdles, a 4’-8 ¼” mark in the high jump, a 34’-4 ¾” throw in the shot put, a 27.8-second run in the 200-meter, a 124’-7” throw in the javelin and a 2:24.54 run in the 800-meters.
