FIVE OTHERS HONORED FOR THEIR ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS

MOUNT VERNON, IA . . .  The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today their Male and Female Athletes of the Week for period ending September 16.  Simpson College football player Jesse Von Behren (Olin, IA/Olin HS) was selected as the IIAC Male Athlete of the Week and Wartburg College volleyball player Dia Dohlman (Eldora, IA/Eldora-New Providence HS) was selected as the IIAC Female Athlete of the Week.

Von Behren, a junior wide receiver, had 197 yards receiving on seven catches in Simpson’s 20-17 victory over Buena Vista on Saturday.    Two of his seven receptions went for touchdowns, one for 50-yards and one for six yards.  The 197 receiving yards are the third highest single-game total in Simpson College history.  On the season, Von Behren has 15 receptions for 285 yards and four touchdowns.  He has averaged 152.5 all-purpose yards per game and 19.0 yards per catch.
