NOTICE: Flood Waters in Cedar Rapids Force IIAC Office to Relocate
(Hiawatha, June 14) - Historic flood conditions in Cedar Rapids have led to a mandatory evacuation of the downtown area, necessitating the temporary relocation of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference office. All Nine IIAC Schools Ranked in Final Directors' Cup Standings; Five in Top-100
(Cleveland, Ohio, June 19) - All nine Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) institutions were ranked in the final United States Sports Academy Division III Directors’ Cup standings for the 2007-08 academic year as announced recently by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). <Complete Release>

   

Former Simpson Coach Shelley Scott O'Meara Passes Away
(Indianola, June 18) - Former Simpson College volleyball and softball coach Shelley Scott O'Meara passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 following a long illness. O'Meara was the winningest coach in Simpson volleyball history and, between volleyball and softball, led Simpson teams to eight IIAC titles and was named IIAC Coach of the Year nine times. <Complete Release>

   

Iowa Conference Commissioner John Cochrane Named Director of Athletics at Cornell College
John Cochrane, Commissioner of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) since 2001, has been named Director of Athletics at league member Cornell College. Cochrane, who was the IIAC's first full-time commissioner, will begin his duties in Mount Vernon June 16. CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced December 10 that former Loras College track and field athlete Abby Erion (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and former Luther College cross country and track and field athlete Adam Bohach (Spillville, Iowa/South Winneshiek) have been selected as the Duane Schroeder IIAC Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the 2006-07 academic year.
