| May 14 | Ryan
Nicholson, Coe College, Downers Grove, Ill./North Nicholson, a freshman pitcher, went 2-0 with a 0.87 earned run average and nine strikeouts in two games of the Iowa Conference Tournament to lead Coe to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1978. He threw a 9-inning complete game against Conference tri-Champion and Tournament #3-seed Wartburg in the opener. He struck out seven batters, allowed seven hits, two walks and two runs (one earned) in the 4-2 victory. In what ended up as the Championship game, Nicholson pitched 1.1 innings of perfect relief to earn the victory in the Kohawks’ 10-8, 11 inning win over #1-seed Simpson. He also had is first career plate appearance, successfully executing a sacrifice bunt that moved the eventual winning run into scoring position while reaching on a throwing error and later scoring an insurance run. |

Cutler, Loras College, Davenport, Iowa/Assumption Cutler, a sophomore pitcher, went 2-0 with a 3.00 earned run average and 12 strikeouts during the week. His victories came against two of the Conference tri-Champions, Central and Simpson, and helped Loras clinched an IIAC Tournament berth for the first time since 2003. In a 4-3 victory over Central, he pitched eight innings, allowed three runs, just one earned run and struck out six. He threw an eight-hit complete game in Loras’ 8-6 victory over Simpson. He struck out six and only of the six runs he allowed were earned. |

Jones, Wartburg College, West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley Jones, a freshman outfielder, hit .615 (8-for-13) with a double, two home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored in four games during the week. He began the week with a pair of three-hit performances, 3-for-4 in a 12-1 win over Carleton and 3-for-3 in a 6-2 win over Loras. He had a double, two RBI and scored a run against Carleton. He had a home run, three RBI and scored two runs in the opener against Loras. In the nightcap against the Loras, Jones went 1-for-3 with an RBI. He finished the week with a 1-for-3 performance in a 16-2 win over Mount Mercy with a home run and two RBI. |

Andrews, Loras College, Cascade, Iowa/Cascade Andrews, a junior outfielder, hit .467 (7-for-15) with three doubles, a triple, six RBI and five runs scored in four games during the week. He went 1-for-5 with an RBI in a 4-3 Duhawk victory over 2005 World Series participant Edgewood and then went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, including the game-winner, in a 4-3 win over Clarke. In a 6-2 win over Cornell, Andrews went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Then in the nightcap, he went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and five RBI, all coming with two outs, as Loras defeated Cornell, 9-3. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week) |

Greiner, Wartburg College, Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln Greiner, a senior catcher, hit .533 (8-for-15) with a double, triple, home run, six RBI and six runs scored in four games during the week. He became Wartburg’s career RBI leader, moving to 171 all-time. In a doubleheader split with Simpson, Greiner had one hit in each game, scoring a run in the first game (a 6-3 loss) and driving in a run in the second game (a 3-2 win). He went 2-for-4 with a double, home run, three RBI and a run in a 10-6 win in game one of a doubleheader against Cornell. In the second game, a 26-3 Knight victory, he went 4-for-4 with a triple, four runs scored and two RBI. |

Kramer, Coe College, Iowa City, Iowa/West Kramer, a senior first baseman, hit .467 (7-for-15) with two doubles, a home run, eight RBI and five runs scored in four games during the week. He became Coe’s career leader for hits, RBI and doubles with his 5-for-10, two double and four RBI performance in a doubleheader split against Loras. In the nightcap, a 20-12 Kohawk victory, he went 4-for-7 with four RBI, two doubles and three runs. He went 2-for-5 with four RBI, a home run and two runs scored in a split with Grinnell, including a three RBI performance in game one (a 4-3 Coe win). (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week) |

Stamp, Central College, Lisbon, Iowa/Lisbon Stamp, a senior outfielder, tied a school record with seven hits in Central’s doubleheader sweep of Cornell. He hit .778 (7-for-9) with a triple, home run, four RBI and four runs scored. In the opener, Stamp went 2-for-3 in a 4-0 Dutch win. In the nightcap, a 15-14 11-inning win, he went 5-for-6 with two extra base hits, four RBI and four runs scored. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week) |

Boyse, Coe College, Alburnett, Iowa/Alburnett Boyse, a sophomore pitcher, threw his first career shutout, a four-hitter against #13-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. He struck out two batters and walked one in a 5-0 Coe victory. |

Mahan, Central College, West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley Mahan, a sophomore pitcher, threw a pair of complete game victories in two appearances during the week. He finished the week with a 2-0 record, a 1.29 ERA, 14 strikeouts, two walks and 14 hits allowed. He struck out seven batters and surrendered eight hits in an 8-1 victory over St. Norbert. In a 6-1 win over Allegheny, Mahan struck out seven batters, allowed six hit and walked two. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week) |

Greiner, Wartburg College, Des Moines, Iowa/Lincoln Greiner, a senior catcher, hit .477 (21-for-44) with three doubles, three triples, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored and nine walks in 13 games. He had at least one hit in 12 of the 13 games, including five multi-hit games – 4-for-4 vs. Wabash, 3-for-5 vs. Monmouth (Ill.) and Wisconsin Lutheran, 2-for-4 vs. Haverford and 2-for-3 vs. Hamline. In the Wabash game (an 18-6 win), he drove in four runs and scored twice. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week) |
