Kyle White, Loras College, Antioch, Ill./Antioch
White, a senior forward, averaged 21.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game as the Duhawks captured their second consecutive IIAC Tournament title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. He posted back-to-back double-doubles during the IIAC Tournament. In the 77-69 tournament championship win over Buena Vista, White scored 18 of his 19 points in the second half, including the go-ahead basket on a three-point play with 1:11 to play in the game. Feb. 24
Andre Wagner, Buena Vista University, Omaha, Neb./Northwest)
Wagner, a junior guard, scored 32 points on the week, becoming the 24th Buena Vista men’s basketball player to eclipse the 1,000-point scoring mark. He also ran his streak of double-figure scoring to 11 with a game-high 22 points on 6-of-11 shooting during BVU’s 80-79 victory over Loras Saturday. The win clinched the IIAC regular-season championship for the Beavers, their first since the 2003-04 season.
Feb. 17
Taylor Blum, University of Dubuque, Dubuque, Iowa/Senior
Blum, a freshman guard, averaged 21.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists as Dubuque picked up league wins over Luther (70-49) and Central (75-62) last week. Against Central, Blum scored 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including six 3-pointers. He opened the week with 13 points against the Norse.
Feb. 10
Brett DeHoogh, Central College, Clive, Iowa/West Des Moines Valley
DeHoogh, a senior guard, made five of six free throws in the final 45 seconds to preserve a 78-73 win at Simpson Feb. 7. DeHoogh scored a career-high 30 points, going 6-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-9 from three-point range. He also made 13 of 16 free throw attempts. As a 6-foot point guard, DeHoogh led the team with four blocks and was second in rebounds with six. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
Feb. 3
Kyle Kuenstling, Coe College, Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton
Kuenstling, a senior forward, averaged 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while helping the Kohawks to a 2-0 record on the week with wins over Wartburg and league-leading Buena Vista. He scored 18 points in the 83-78 win at Buena Vista Saturday, Coe’s first win in Storm Lake since 1999. With his 14 rebounds against Wartburg, Kuenstling moved into first place on Coe’s all-time rebounds list, breaking a 34-year old record and becoming the first player in school history with over 700 rebounds. Jan. 27

Tyler Daugherty, University of Dubuque, Bellevue, Iowa/Bellevue
Daugherty, a senior guard, averaged 20.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game in three games last week. The Spartans posted a 2-1 record to improve to third place in the IIAC after starting 0-3 in the league. Daugherty opened the week with 27 points on 10-of-20 shooting in a 92-90 overtime win over at Cornell Monday, then followed it up with 23 points and 10 rebounds in a home win over Wartburg. He closed out the week with 12 points and six rebounds in a 64-45 loss to Buena Vista. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Jan. 20

Andre Wagner, Buena Vista University, Omaha, Neb./Northwest
Wagner, a junior guard, nailed the game-winning shot with 1.1 seconds remaining to help propel the Beavers to a thrilling 64-62 win over Loras Jan. 16. He finished that contest with 21 points on 8-of-20 shooting, including five three-pointers. Wagner then chipped in with a team-high 12 points against Cornell Jan. 19 to help BVU stay perfect in league play at 7-0.

Jan. 13

Michael Tierney, Cornell College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson
Tierney, a junior guard, netted a career-high 29 points – 24 after intermission – in a 74-67 win over Simpson on Jan. 9 to propel the Rams to a 3-0 start in IIAC play, the school’s best start since joining the IIAC in 1997-98. Tierney went 10-of-10 from the foul line while Cornell snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Storm. Tierney added 12 points in a 81-70 loss at Loras on Jan. 12.

Jan. 6

Griffin LaDew, Cornell College, Pewaukee, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial
LaDew, a junior guard, netted 27 points behind 7-of-12 shooting from three-point range in a 61-56 comeback win over Central Jan. 5 in Mount Vernon. With 2:29 left on the clock and Cornell trailing 53-51, LaDew hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions to give the Rams the lead for good. It was LaDew’s fourth 20-point game of the season. Dec. 31

Keith Pedersen, Central College, Jefferson, Iowa/Jefferson-Scranton
Pedersen, a senior forward, set or tied a number of school records during the Holiday break as the Dutch went 3-0. In a 90-77 win over William Woods, Pedersen tied the Central single-game record for highest field goal percentage (100%; 13-13) and most consecutive made field goals (13). Over the course of three games, Pedersen made 15 consecutive field goals, setting another school record. As of Dec. 16, Pedersen ranked second in Division III in field goal percentage and has since raised his season field goal percentage to 80.0%. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Kyle Kuenstling, Coe College, Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton
Kuenstling, a senior forward, scored a season-high 32 points while pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out five assists in a 70-64 win over Maryville (Mo.). He also had 10 rebounds in the Kohawks’ five-point loss to 12th-ranked Washington (Mo.). (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Dec. 9

Griffin LaDew, Cornell College, Pewaukee, Wis./Waukesha Memorial Catholic
LaDew, a junior guard, averaged 24.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in two games during the week. In Cornell's 82-81 win over Mount Mercy, LaDew scored 27 points behind 7-of-9 shooting from three-point range, dished out five assists, pulled down four rebounds and made three steals. In a 70-66 setback against Clarke, he added 22 points, hitting 9 of 15 shots from the floor and drained four three-pointers.

Dec. 2

Kyle White, Loras College, Antioch, Ill./Antioch
White, a senior forward, posted a 21-point, 17-rebound double-double to lead the Duhawks to a 76-56 win over Central in the IIAC opener for both schools Nov. 28. White hit on seven of 16 shots from the field and seven of eight free throws while also adding a pair of assists in the victory.

Nov. 25

Tim Dunlavy, Simpson College, Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf
Dunlavy, a sophomore center, averaged 23.7 points and 7.0 rebounds in three games for the Storm last week. He opened the week with 21 and 18 points, respectively, in losses to Augustana (Ill.) (80-65) and Carleton (87-79) before putting together a 32-point, 13-rebound double-double in a 114-105 win over Grinnell. Dunlavy’s 14-of-18 performance (77.8%) against Grinnell is the third-best single-game shooting percentage in school history and his 32 points is the 11th-best single-game total in school history. Nov. 18

Mitch Eslick, Wartburg College, Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge
Eslick, a freshman forward, recorded back-to-back double-figure scoring efforts against No. 13-ranked Aurora (Illinois) and Midwest Conference preseason favorite Grinnell at the Buzz Levick/Pizza Ranch Tip-Off Tournament Nov. 16 and 17. Eslick posted 37 points in the tournament championship game against Grinnell, falling just four points shy of tying the Wartburg single-game scoring record. He also fell one rebound short of a double-double (22 pts., 9 rebs.) against Aurora. Eslick, who was named to the all-tournament team, currently leads Wartburg in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and free throw shooting, and is tied for first in steals and assists.
