Michael Tierney, Cornell College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson
Tierney, a senior guard, scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the first half in leading Cornell to a 58-56 victory over Wartburg in the Iowa Conference Tournament championship game Saturday night in Mount Vernon. He finished the evening shooting 9-of-21 from the field with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. The Rams (21-6) earned their first trip to the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship since 1994.

Kevin Dux, Coe College, Boulder, Colo./Fairview
Dux, a senior guard, scored a career-high 23 points in the final game of his collegiate career, a win at Simpson Feb. 21. It was the first 20-point game of his career. With his 6-of-9 3-point shooting against the Storm, he became just the 11th player in school history to hit six or more in a game. With 10 3-pointers during the week, Dux moved into 10th on Coe’s career list with 94. He also added 14 points in a Feb. 18 road win at Wartburg, after being held scoreless at Levick Arena last season.

Matt Cleveland, Buena Vista Univ., McCook Lake, S.D./Sioux City (Iowa) Bishop Heelan
Cleveland, a senior forward, scored 20 points in each of Buena Vista’s wins last week as the Beavers clinched their second consecutive league title. He has scored at least 18 points in six of his last seven games and raised his scoring average by nearly 1.5 points (12.8-14.3ppg) since BVU’s Jan. 19 loss to Wartburg. His 12 rebounds in a win over Loras matched a career-high.

Travis Person, Buena Vista University, Tipton, Iowa/Tipton
Person, a senior forward, set new career highs for points (27) and 3-pointers (9) in an 89-79 win over Wartburg Feb. 4. He also added 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. With 11 3-pointers during the week, Person moved into a tie for sixth place on the program’s all-time list with 136. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Chris Handke, Cornell College, Bellevue, Iowa/Bellevue
Handke, a junior center, recorded single-game career highs in points (17) and rebounds (14) in a road win over Simpson Jan. 31. In two Cornell wins during the week, Handke averaged 13 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.

Griffin LaDew, Cornell College, Pewaukee, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial
LaDew, a senior guard, became the school’s all-time leading scorer with a 21-point effort at archrival Coe Jan. 19. He has totaled 1,414 career points, breaking the school’s 22-year old mark of 1,373 points held by Jeff Fleming (1983-87). In three games last week, LaDew averaged 18.0 points, shooting 54.5 percent (18-33) from the field, 50.0 percent (8-16) from 3-point range, and 90.9 percent (10-11) from the free-throw line.

Brian Centella, Loras College, Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake
Centella, a senior guard, surpassed 1,000 career points with a 29-point effort in a win over Cornell Jan. 14. He added 20 points in a loss at league-leader Buena Vista Jan. 17. During the week, he shot 56.0 percent (14-of-25) from the field, 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from behind the arc, and 85.7 percent (12-of-14) from the free-throw line. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Josh Bellaire, University of Dubuque, New Orleans, La./Warren Easton
Bellaire, a junior guard, scored 33 points on 14-of-17 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds in a 81-71 road win at Loras Jan. 7. Bellaire entered the game averaging 11.7 points per game. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Matt Cleveland, Buena Vista Univ., McCook Lake, S.D./Sioux City (Iowa) Heelan
Cleveland, a senior forward, was named the MVP of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Classic Dec. 29-30 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif., after averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds at the tournament. His 29 points and 12 rebounds against Pacific Lutheran set or matched new career highs.

Dux, a senior guard, broke his career-high in scoring for the second consecutive game with 19 points in a win over Illinois College. He hit a career-high five 3-pointers against the Blueboys. He stretched his streak of games in double-figures to four with 11 points in a loss to Hawai’i Pacific, where he had a career-high six assists. In two games, he averaged 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while shooting 52.6 percent (10 of 19) from the field and 53.3 percent from behind the arc (8 of 15). Griffin LaDew, Cornell College, Pewaukee, Wis./Waukesha Catholic Memorial
LaDew, a senior guard, moved into fifth place on Cornell’s career scoring chart with 1,288 points. He tossed in a season-high 26 points against Webster on the strength of a perfect 11-for-11 at the charity stripe. In three games, he averaged 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 45.5 percent (15-33) from the field, 36.8 percent (7-19) from behind the arc, and 94.7 percent (18-19) at the line. Andre Wagner, Buena Vista University, Omaha, Neb./Northwest
Wagner, a senior guard, scored 25 points and hit a season-high five three-pointers while dishing out six assists during a 25-point BVU win at Simpson on Wednesday. He followed that performance with 18 points, four rebounds and four steals in a 16-point home win over Coe Dec. 6 as the Beavers opened the conference slate with a 2-0 mark.

Tim Dunlavy, Simpson College, Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf
Dunlavy, a junior center, was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Nebraska Wesleyan Snyder Classic after averaging 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while leading the Storm to a pair of wins. He scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds against University of Dallas, then posted 13 points and seven boards in a win over Presentation. Dunlavy shot 59.1 percent from the field during the tournament. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Miguel Ley, Central College, San Antonio, Texas/Judson
Ley, a junior guard, averaged 19.7 points per game as the Dutch opened the season with a 3-0 mark. He shot 52.4 percent from the field and 44.4 percent (4-9) from 3-point range in wins over Faith Baptist, Graceland, and CalTech. He also connected on 11 of 13 opportunities at the charity stripe.
