November 14 Tyler Sherden, Luther, So., RB
Totaled 310 all-purpose yards in Luther’s 38-24 victory over Simpson. Rushed for 240 yards and three touchdowns on 51 carries (4.7 yard/carry), had one reception for 13 yards and two kick returns for 57 yards.
November 7 Mark Isaacson, Central, Sr., QB
Helped Central tie a team record for touchdown passes in a game as he threw for four and caught another in a 35-16 victory over first-place Buena Vista. Completed 21-of-37 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Caught a four-yard pass from running back Durk Pearston to close out the game’s scoring and also rushed for eight yards on four carries.
October 31 Tyler Sherden, Luther, So., RB
Amassed 251 all-purpose yards in Luther’s 52-13 victory over Cornell. Had 27 carries for 161 yards including a five-yard touchdown run and had two receptions for 19 yards. To go along with 6.0 yard per carry and 9.5 yard per reception average, returned one kick for 71 yards. In six games since moving from defensive back to running back, has rushed for 817 yards and 11 touchdowns on 171 carries.
October 24 Jason Ripke, Simpson, Jr., DL
Anchored the Storm’s defense that handed Buena Vista its first Conference loss of the season (17-7). Had seven tackles, five tackles for loss and four sacks, tying the school record for sacks in a game.
October 17 Scott McCarty, Simpson, Jr., QB
Had a 230.58 passing efficiency and five touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) in the Storm’s 37-7 victory over Loras. He completed 22-of-29 passes for 377 yards and had a 14-yard touchdown run. His 377 passing yards and four touchdowns are the fourth-highest single game total in school history.
October 10 Thoni Oriental, Dubuque, Jr., DB
Helped the Spartans end a 27-game Iowa Conference winless streak and beat Coe (12-7) for the first time since 1919. Oriental intercepted a pass that led to Dubuque’s first touchdown midway through the third quarter. Had two tackles and three pass break-ups, including one late in the fourth quarter when the Kohawks were driving inside the Dubuque 20.
October 3 Jesse Schmidt, Buena Vista, Jr., WR
Scored all three of the Beavers touchdowns as the team came back from a 21-3 deficit to defeat Loras 26-21 and improve to 3-0 in Conference play. Had eight receptions for 134 yards (16.8 yards/catch). Also returned two kicks for 34 yards, recorded one tackle and forced a fumble.
September 26 Jason Ripke, Simpson, Jr., DL
Recorded nine tackles (all solo), six tackles for loss and three sacks in the Storm’s 31-13 victory over the University of Dubuque. It marked the second time in his career that he recorded three sacks, the second-highest single-game total in school history.
September 19 Michael Irvin, Buena Vista, Sr., LB
Anchored the Beaver defense that held #5-Wartburg to less than half its season offensive average (221 yards) in a 17-14 victory. Had 15 total tackles, including nine solo, and also recorded two tackles for loss as Buena Vista defeated Wartburg for the first time since 1997 and for the first time at home since 1988.
September 12 Mark Sanger, Central, Sr., LB
Had a career-high 21 tackles in Central’s 21-20 overtime victory over #14-Bethel (Minn.). The 21 tackles, of which 10 were solo, is the seventh-highest single-game total in school history. Also had three tackles for losses.
September 5 Neil Suckow, Coe, Fr., RB
Scored five touchdowns and totaled 347 all-purpose yards in his first collegiate game, a 42-12 victory over Westminster (Mo.). Rushed for 225 yards (17th highest single-game total in school history) and four touchdowns on 20 carries (11.2 yards/carry). Averaged 25.5 yards on four punt returns including a touchdown. Had two receptions for 20 yards.
