Nov. 12

Brandon Clayton, University of Dubuque, Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame
Clayton, a junior running back, rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries in the Dubuque’s overtime victory at Wartburg (17-14). He out gained the entire Wartburg rush offense (168-151) as the Spartans defeated the Knights for the first time since 1989 and finished the season with a 6-4 record, their most wins since 1986.

Nov. 5

Jermar Jackson, University of Dubuque, Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon
Jackson, a junior quarterback, scored all four Dubuque touchdowns in a 27-25 victory over Buena Vista. It was the Spartans first win over the Beavers in 16 tries. Jackson rushed for 114 yards and four scores on 25 carries, and also passed for 213 yards on 15-of-36 passing to six different receivers.

Oct. 29

Vance Schuring, Central College, Pella, Iowa/Pella
Schuring, a junior running back, rushed for season-high 184 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries in Central’s 44-7 victory over Loras. He topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the 12th time in 18 career games.

Devin Stewart, Buena Vista University, Laurens, Iowa/Laurens-Marathon
Stewart, a junior wide receiver, had three receptions for 123 yards and two touchdowns in Buena Vista’s 20-10 victory over Loras. He scored on catches of 44 and 68-yards in the first half. He entered Saturday’s game with 142 receiving yards on the season.

Oct. 15
Michael Sly, Buena Vista University, Grimes, Iowa/Dallas Center-Grimes
Sly, a junior strong safety, had a team-high 13 tackles and two interceptions in Buena Vista’s 30-27 overtime victory over Luther. He also had one tackle for loss.
Oct. 8
Chris Kemmerer, Buena Vista University, Clear Lake, Iowa/Clear Lake
Kemmerer, a senior place kicker/punter, connected on all three field goal attempts in Buena Vista’s 15-14 victory over Simpson, including a 34-yarder to win the game with 41 seconds remaining. He also averaged 42.9 yards on nine punts including a career-long 74-yard punt, and also averaged 62.5 yards on four kickoffs with three touchbacks.

Walner Belleus, University of Dubuque, Immokalee, Fla./Immokalee
Belleus, a senior, amassed 331 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns to go along with nine tackles and an interception in Dubuque’s 51-34 victory over Luther. He had six receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown, returned two kickoffs for 105 yards including an 88-yard touchdown and returned one punt for a 73-yard touchdown. Belleus returned the interception 22 yards, had one carry for eight yards and forced a fumble.

Sept. 24
Adam Jordison, Coe College, Van Meter, Iowa/Van Meter
Jordison, a senior defensive end, tied an Iowa Conference record with five sacks in Coe’s 41-17 victory over Buena Vista. He also had nine tackles in the game (six solo) and became Coe’s career leader in tackles for loss and sacks. He is the fourth IIAC player to record five sacks in a game, the first since Wartburg’s Matt Stoffel in September 2003. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
Sept. 17
Edward McIntosh, University of Dubuque, Pompano Beach, Fla./Blanche Ely
McIntosh, a sophomore wide receiver, had five receptions for 102 yards and two touchdowns in Dubuque’s 32-14 win over Cornell. He caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from wide receiver Walner Belleus with three seconds left in the first quarter and then three minutes later, had a 12-yard TD reception from quarterback Jermar Jackson.
Sept. 10
Tim Connell, Central College, Eldora, Iowa/Eldora-New Providence
Connell, a junior quarterback, completed 26-of-36 passes for 240 yards and rushed for 89 yards on 14 carries in Central’s 24-13 victory over Hope. He also rushed for and passed for a touchdown. Connell was the games leading passer and rusher, setting career-highs in rushing and passing yards, and completions.

Sept. 3
Nate Newmeister, Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa/Mount Vernon
Newmeister, a senior running back, rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in Cornell’s 30-14 victory over Northwestern (Minn.) College. He scored on runs of 57-yards in the second quarter and six-yards in the fourth quarter. The victory was the Rams’ seventh straight season-opening win.
