Nov. 11

Jermar Jackson, University of Dubuque, Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon
Jackson, a senior quarterback, played a part in all five Dubuque touchdowns in the Spartans’ 34-31 season-ending win over Luther. Jackson ran for three touchdowns (10, 1, 3) and threw for two others (18, 52). He completed 10 of 19 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns (18, 52) through the air, while carrying the ball 31 times for 127 yards and three scores (10, 1, 3). Jackson led the Spartans to their best record since 1980, finishing his career with 10,148 yards of total offense which places him 18th in the NCAA Division III record book with 2,323 yards rushing and 7,825 yards passing. With 103 touchdowns (47 rushing, 56 passing) and 282 points, Jackson also averaged 307.7 yards of total offense per game and 5.2 yards per rush. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Nov. 4

Tyler Sherden, Luther College, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall
Sherden, a senior running back, rushed for a Luther College single-game record 297 yards in the Norse's 47-41 double-overtime victory over Simpson. Sherden, who finished the game with 413 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns, broke his own mark of 269 set against Buena Vista earlier this year. His final carry of the day, the 25-yard game-winning score, set a new Luther single-season rushing mark with 1,448 yards, which surpassed the old mark of 1,442 set in 1971 by Bernie Peeters. Sherden also returned five kicks for 98 yards, had an 18-yard reception and assisted on one tackle. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Jermar Jackson, University of Dubuque, Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon
Jackson, a senior quarterback, was part of four scores (three rushing, one passing) in a 28-14 win over Loras. Jackson completed 20 of 35 passes for 272 yards and rushed 27 times for 154 yards. He broke the school record for rushing touchdowns in a single season with his 16th and pushed his career total for rushing touchdowns to 42. He also broke the Dubuque mark for most rushing attempts with 608 and the Dubuque single-season mark for points with 96. Jackson currently has 9,548 yards of total offense for his career. Oct. 21

Tim Connell, Central College, Eldora, Iowa/Eldora-New Providence
Connell, a senior quarterback, directed a game-tying touchdown drive in the final two minutes of regulation as part of four-touchdown day as the Dutch topped Dubuque 37-34 in triple overtime. Connell completed 22 of 44 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 19 times for 14 yards and a touchdown as he improved his record to 5-0 in overtime games as Central’s starting quarterback. During the course of the game, Connell also set Central career records for passing yards (5,008), pass completions (410) and total offense (6,076). (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Tyler Sherden, Luther College, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall
Sherden
, a senior running back, set a single-game school record with 269 rushing yards on 37 carries with a touchdown in a 25-22 victory over Buena Vista, breaking the old mark of 263 set in 1957 by Brad Hustad against Upper Iowa. Sherden, who averaged 7.3 yards per carry, also caught two balls for three yards and returned two kickoffs for 40 yards to amass 312 all purpose yards.

Oct. 7

Chris Hawkins, Buena Vista University, Platte City, Mo./Platte County
Hawkins, a senior quarterback, set a single-game school record and tied the IIAC single-game mark for touchdown passes with six, including three in the first quarter, as the Beavers topped Cornell 42-7 for BVU's first league win on the season. Hawkins completed 18 of 27 passes for 285 yards and the six scores. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Sept. 30
Tyler Pease, Luther College, Stuart, Iowa/West Central Valley
Pease, a senior placekicker, set an Iowa Conference record with six made field goals in a 25-20 win at Cornell. Pease was 6-for-6 on the afternoon connecting on field goals of 27, 33, 27, 22, 28 and 26 yards as the Norse posted their first win of the season. Pease also added an extra point following Luther’s lone touchdown of the day. Chris Gardner (Loras) and Carlos Martinez (Buena Vista) had shared the old record of five field goals in a single game. Sept. 23
Kurtis Brondyke, Central College, Clinton, Iowa/Clinton
Brondyke, a freshman punter, punted seven times for 281 yards (a 40.1 yard per punt average), landing three of his seven punts inside the 5-yard line, including two fourth-quarter punts downed at the 1-yard line to help Central preserve a 17-14 win over Loras. Brondyke has had four punts downed at the 1-yard line in the past two weeks. Only one of his seven punts in the Loras game was returnable.
Sept. 16
Alex McGrew, Loras College, Van Horne, Iowa/Benton Community
McGrew, a junior running back, carried the ball 30 times for a career-high 184 yards and two touchdowns (19, 2) in the Duhawks’ 30-20 win at Cornell. McGrew also added 151 yards on six returns (25.1 avg.), allowing Loras to post an average starting field position of their own 39-yard line. McGrew also accounted for 10 of Loras’ 19 first downs during the game.
Sept. 9
Anthony Kobler, Cornell College, Brentwood, Mo./Brentwood
Kobler, a senior quarterback, set a career high with 391 passing yards and accounted for four touchdowns in Cornell’s 35-34 come-from-behind win over Alma (Mich.). He threw three touchdowns, including a game-winning, 52-yard strike to Kyle Krogmann with 1:39 to play. Kobler also rushed for a team-high 86 yards and one touchdown.

Sept. 2
Tom Breitbach, Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier
Breitbach, a junior wide receiver/defensive back/return specialist, tallied 183 all-purpose yards on just five touches in Coe’s 24-6 season-opening win over Illinois Wesleyan University, averaging 37 yards per touch. He scored on a 51-yard punt return late in the second half and then added a 92-yard interception return early in the fourth quarter. Breitbach also caught one pass for 10 yards, returned one kickoff for 19 yards and two punts for 62 yards. Defensively, he posted six tackles (four solo) and broke up five passes.
