Reck, a freshman, captured medalist honors at the 2009 Iowa Conference Men’s Golf Championship (78-70-76-73—297), becoming the first freshman since Luther’s Scott Theriault in 2000 to capture medalist honors. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Paul Soener, Luther College, Des Moines, Iowa/Roosevelt
Soener,a sophomore, holds the 36-hole lead after the first weekend of the 2009 Iowa Conference Men’s Golf Championship after firing back-to-back 1-over-par 73s for 146 total at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City. He leads the medalist race by two strokes.

Ross Jacobucci, Luther College, Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury
Jacobucci, a junior, captured medalist honors at the Buena Vista Spring Invitational by virtue of a tie-breaker. He shot 72-69—141 to tie Central’s Andrew Townsend atop the leader board and lead the Norse to the team title, three shots ahead of Nebraska Wesleyan.

Andy Petersen, Central College, Davenport, Iowa/West
Petersen, a senior, captured medalist honors in the 91-golfer field at the Wartburg Invitational. He fired rounds of 72 and 70 for a 2-under-par 142 and the 1-stroke victory.

Andy Petersen, Central College, Davenport, Iowa/West
Petersen, a senior, finished tied for fourth in a 119-golfer field at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational. He fired rounds of 71 and 75 for a 146 total to finish five shots behind the medalist in a field that included eight of the top 50 golfers in NCAA Division III.

Aaron Smith, Luther College, Pella, Iowa/Pella
Smith, a freshman, placed third in a 27-golfer field at the Sunshine Invitational. He posted rounds of 73 and 75 for a 148 total to lead the Norse, who won by six strokes over top-ranked Huntingdon College.
