Orlando Walton, Univ. of Dubuque, Muskegon, Mich./Muskegon
Walton, a junior, was named Most Valuable Performer at the Iowa Conference Championship after scoring 20 of Dubuque’s 45 points. He automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships with a winning time of 21.26 seconds in the 200-meter dash, breaking the Conference record of 21.38 seconds. Walton also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.73 seconds, an NCAA provisional qualifying time. In the preliminaries of the race, he set a Conference record with a time of 10.59 seconds. Ben Bollard, Central College, Pella, Iowa/Pella
Bollard, a senior, won the Iowa Conference decathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6380 points. Last year’s decathlon runner-up, he bested the 13 competitor field by 91 points. Bollard overcame an eight-point deficit heading into the final event, the 1500-meters. He posted the top time in the 1500 (4:29.27) and moved past Cornell’s James Klobucar. He finished in the top-three (of 13 participants) in seven of the 10 events – 1500-meters, 400-meters (1st, 49.36 seconds), 100-meters (2nd, 11.17 seconds), discus (2nd, 33.00 meters), 110-hurdles (3rd, 15.71 meters), long jump (3rd, 6.68 meters) and pole vault (3rd, 3.43 meters). He posted career-best marks in the discus, pole vault, 100-meters, long jump and 400-meters.

Geoff Kaiser, Loras College, Horicon, Wis./Horicon
Kaiser, a senior, automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships with his winning performance in the 400-meter hurdles at the Loras Open, setting a meet and venue record with a time of 52.24 seconds. He also provisionally qualified for the Championships with a winning long jump mark of 23-feet 7.5-inches, and won the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.97 seconds.

Kyle Calvert, Loras College, Pekin, Ill./Pekin
Calvert, a sophomore, automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the pole vault with his performance at the Dick Young Invitational. He shattered both the meet and school records with a vault of 17-feet one-quarter inch, currently the top mark in the nation. The previous meet record was 15-feet 11-inches and the previous school record was 15-feet 3-inches. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Jason Fisher, Central College, Montezuma, Iowa/Montezuma
Fisher, a junior, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.15 meters, the top mark in Division III to date, to win the event at Drake University’s Jim Duncan Invitational. His throw broke the Central school record by seven feet and eclipsed his previous personal best by 10 feet. He also finished third in the shot put (14.17 meters) and discus (44.87 meters).

Jason Fisher, Central College, Montezuma, Iowa/Montezuma
Fisher, a junior, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.49 meters at the Central Invitational. He finished third in the event behind a pair of throwers from the University of Iowa.

Geoff Kaiser, Loras College, Horicon, Wis./Horicon
Kaiser, a senior, won three events at the Augustana (Ill.) College Viking Olympics highlighted by an NCAA automatic qualifying performance in the long jump in which he posted a winning mark of 7.35 meters. He also crossed the finish line first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.04 seconds) and the 400-meter hurdles (54.29 seconds). (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
Mar. 25
Jordan Pinckney, Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington
Pinckney, a junior, placed second in the shot put at the Lynx Spring Break Invitational hosted by Rhodes College with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 15.69 meters. He finished second to Glenn Edwards of Division I Memphis. Pinckney also had a discus mark of 36.95 meters, finishing 18th.
