Eric Bertelsen, Buena Vista University, Polk City, Iowa/North Polk
Bertelsen, a senior, became the first IIAC male athlete since Central’s Peter Wagner in 2002 and 2003 to be named Most Valuable Performer twice at the Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships. Bertelsen won the long jump, 100- and 200-meter dashes, and anchored Buena Vista’s winning 4x100-meter relay. He captured the long jump with an NCAA automatic qualifying leap of 24-0 ¾, the 100 with a wind-aided time of 10.53 seconds, and the 200 with an NCAA provisional time of 21.71 seconds. Buena Vista’s 4x100 relay edged Wartburg at the tape, winning the race with an NCAA provisional time of 41.54 seconds. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)

Kurtis Brondyke, Central College, Clinton, Iowa/Clinton
Brondyke, a sophomore, won the decathlon at the Iowa Conference Multi-Event Championships with a career-best and NCAA provisional total of 6,491 points. His effort ranks seventh in Division III.

John Kuckelman, Wartburg College, Keokuk, Iowa/Keokuk
Kuckelman, a senior, set a school record with his fourth-place toss of 172 feet, 8 inches in the hammer throw at the Loras Duhawk Open. He bettered the old Wartburg mark of 169-7 by more than three feet and surpassed the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying standard.

Shawn Olorundami, Buena Vista University, Sioux City, Iowa/West
Olorundami, a senior, captured the individual title in the 110 hurdles and placed second in the 400 hurdles at the Sioux City Relays. His 14.53 clocking in the finals of the 110 hurdles bettered the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. He also ran on the winning 4x200 relay and anchored the 4x100 relay to a third-place finish.

Eric Bertelsen, Buena Vista University, Polk City, Iowa/North Polk
Bertelsen, a senior, captured individual titles in the long jump (7.27m; 23-10 ¼) and 100-meter dash (10.9 seconds) and was the top collegiate finisher in 200 at the Jim Duncan Invitational. His 21.41 clocking in the 200 bettered his own NCAA provisional mark by .24 seconds and was second only to 2004 Olympic gold medalist Andrew Rock (4x400 relay) who ran 21.32.

Kurtis Brondyke, Central College, Clinton, Iowa/Clinton
Brondyke, a sophomore, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the decathlon by winning the event at the Central Invitational. He scored 6,088 points in his first career decathlon.

Eric Bertelsen, Buena Vista University, Polk City, Iowa/North Polk
Bertelsen, a senior, won the 200-meter dash and long jump and finished second in the 100 at the Victory Lopez Bayou Classic at Rice University. He won the long jump with an NCAA automatic-qualifying leap of 24 feet, 7 ¼ inches and the 200 in an NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 21.65 seconds. Bertelsen also ran on the ninth-place 4x100 relay for the Beavers, who finished sixth at the meet behind five NCAA Division I programs. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
