CEDAR
RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) announced today that Simpson College softball
player Kelcie Host (Altoona, Iowa/Southeast
Polk) and Simpson College baseball player Jesse Reis
(Coon Rapids, Iowa/Coon Rapids-Bayard) have been named the IIAC
Female and Male Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday,
March 16. The Conference also announced the Performers of the
Week for each of the Conference’s three sports in competition
during the week.
Softball
– Kelcie Host, Simpson College, Altoona, Iowa/Southeast
Polk
Host, a sophomore outfielder, hit. 625 with 20
hits in 32 at-bats as the Storm posted a 7-3 record last week.
She also scored 11 runs, knocked in eight, hit two doubles and
broke the school record for triples in a season with six during
the week. She now has eight doubles on the season.

Baseball
– Jesse Reis, Simpson College, Coon Rapids, Iowa/Coon
Rapids-Bayard
Reis, a junior infielder, hit .533 with eight hits in 15 at-bats
as the Storm went 4-2 during the week at the RussMatt Greater
Phoenix Invitational. He hit two doubles and one home run with
five runs scored and eight RBIs and was flawless in 35 chances
in the field. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
Men's
Tennis – Tom Jennings, Coe College, West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley
Jennings, a senior, extended his singles winning streak to nine
matches with a perfect 4-0 mark at No. 4 singles last week,
surviving three set matches in duals against Vassar and SIU-Edwardsville.
He also posted a 2-2 record at No. 2 doubles with playing partner
Scott Stegeman.
Other
Outstanding Weekly Performers
The IIAC also recognized the following outstanding
athletic performances from the past week.
Softball
– Luther College senior catcher Tami
Magner (Waukon, Iowa/Waukon) hit .350 (7-20) in six
games with five RBI, six runs scored, and four home runs as
the Norse posted a 4-2 record. The four home runs allowed Magner
to break the Luther College career home run record. She now
has a career total of 27.
Baseball
– Coe College junior catcher/infielder Tyler
McAllister (Ursa, Ill./Mendon-Unity) helped the Kohawks
to 5-1 record after hitting .500 with six RBIs and eight runs
scored. He hit a pair of doubles, a home run, stole four bases
and was perfect in 40 chances in the field.
Baseball
– Central College junior shortstop Jake
Jadlowski (Omaha, Neb./Ralston) batted .571 in five
games with six RBIs and seven runs scored. He had the game-winning
hit in an 8-7, 10-inning win over Hamline Saturday.
Men’s
Tennis – Wartburg College senior Tylor
Schlader (Charles City, Iowa/Charles City) turned in
a 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles and a 1-1 record at No. 1 singles
against Luther and Wabash March 14-15. He upped his season singles
record to 9-5 with back-to-back straight-set wins, giving Wabash
No. 1 singles player Luke Bielawski his first loss of the season.
