BUENA VISTA' MUHLBAUER AND SIMPSON'S DUNLAVY
NAMED IIAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that Buena Vista University women’s basketball player Margo Muhlbauer (Manilla, Iowa/IKM) and Simpson College men’s basketball player Tim Dunlavy (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) have been named the IIAC Female and Male Athletes of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 25. The pair were also named Performer of the Week in their respective sports.

Women’s Basketball – Margo Muhlbauer, Buena Vista University, Manilla, Iowa/IKM
Muhlbauer, a sophomore guard, averaged 27.0 points over three games this week, including a career-high 33 in a Nov. 20 loss to Waldorf. She turned in 26 points and five assists in an 82-64 win over Presentation (S.D.) Nov. 23 and added 22 points and five rebounds in an 84-73 win over Nebraska Wesleyan the next night to collect MVP honors at the 2007 BVU Classic sponsored by State Farm. In three games, Muhlbauer shot 30-of-47 (63.8%) from the field and 19-of-26 (73.1%) from the charity stripe. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Men’s Basketball – Tim Dunlavy, Simpson College, Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf
Dunlavy, a sophomore center, averaged 23.7 points and 7.0 rebounds in three games for the Storm last week. He opened the week with 21 and 18 points, respectively, in losses to Augustana (Ill.) (80-65) and Carleton (87-79) before putting together a 32-point, 13-rebound double-double in a 114-105 win over Grinnell. Dunlavy’s 14-of-18 performance (77.8%) against Grinnell is the third-best single-game shooting percentage in school history and his 32 points is the 11th-best single-game total in school history. Other Outstanding Weekly Performers
The IIAC also recognized the following outstanding athletic performances from the past week.

Women’s Basketball – Simpson College senior forward Katelyn Whiton (Panora, Iowa/Perry) was named to the All-Classic Team at the 2007 BVU Classic sponsored by State Farm after averaging 15.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in commanding wins over Nebraska Wesleyan (99-53) and Presentation (115-68).

Women’s Basketball – Luther College junior forward Blair Ernst (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) was named the All-Tournament Team at the Washington University McWilliams Classic. Ernst averaged 16.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while leading the Norse in scoring in a loss to Carleton (66-56) and a win over Kenyon (66-45).

Men’s Basketball – Central College senior guard Zak Clark (Fort Dodge, Iowa/St. Edmond) averaged 19.5 points and shot 52.2 percent from the field to lead the Dutch to wins over Faith Baptist (94-53) and Bethany Lutheran (82-73). Against Bethany Lutheran, Clark helped Central rally from a 13-point first half deficit, finishing with 26 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 5-of-9 from three-point range and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line.

Men’s Basketball – Loras College junior forward Ricky Kolze (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) averaged 21.5 points and 4.0 rebounds, highlighted by 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting in an 87-66 win over Mount Mercy on Nov. 25 for the Duhawks first victory of the year. Kolze connected on five of eight three-pointers in the win.

Men’s Basketball – Luther College senior guard Austin Bildstein (Anamosa, Iowa/Anamosa) averaged 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals in three games for the Norse last week, highlighted by a 33-point performance in a 77-59 win over Saint Mary’s (Minn.) at the Snyder Classic hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University. Bildstein, who was named to the all-tournament team, fell one point shy of the Snyder Classic record. He made 13 of 19 shots from the field and all six of his attempts at the free-throw line.
