RAPIDS, IOWA . . . The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (IIAC) announced today that Wartburg College basketball
player Sharese Van Sloten (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah)
and Coe College basketball player Kevin Dux
(Boulder, Colo./Fairview) have been named the IIAC Female and
Male Athletes of the Week for the period ending Monday, December
22. The Conference also announced the Performers of the Week
for the Conference’s three sports in competition during
the week.
Women’s
Basketball – Sharese Van Sloten, Wartburg College, Decorah,
Iowa/Decorah
Van Sloten, a senior center, tied the single-game
school record for points (37) and set the single-game record
for field goals (15) in an 89-80 overtime win at St. Ambrose
Dec. 19. She came back with a team-high 18 points and seven
rebounds as the Knights defeated previously-unbeaten Gustavus
Adolphus Dec. 21. She went over the 500 career rebound mark
with seven against Gustavus Adolphus. (IIAC Female

Men’s
Basketball – Kevin Dux, Coe College, Boulder, Colo./Fairview
Dux, a senior guard, broke his career-high in scoring for the
second consecutive game with 19 points in a win over Illinois
College. He hit a career-high five 3-pointers against the Blueboys.
He stretched his streak of games in double-figures to four with
11 points in a loss to Hawai’i Pacific, where he had a
career-high six assists. In two games, he averaged 15 points,
five rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while shooting 52.6
percent (10 of 19) from the field and 53.3 percent from behind
the arc (8 of 15). (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
Wrestling
– Rob Kramer, Coe College, Swisher, Iowa/Cedar Rapids
Prairie
Kramer, a junior 197-pounder, went undefeated at the Wartburg
Desert Duals, helping the Kohawks go undefeated at the event
for the third consecutive year. He posted a technical fall over
Ohio Northern’s Drew Michel and major decisions over Ryan
Van Doren of Embry-Riddle (16-7) and Bernie Vazquez of Elmhurst
(12-4) as well as accepting a forfeit against Olivet.
Other
Outstanding Weekly Performers
The IIAC also recognized the following outstanding
athletic performances from the past week.
•
Women’s Basketball – Loras College junior
guard Lindsay Bava (Downers Grove, Ill./Montini
Catholic) averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and
2.3 steals per game as the Duhawks went 2-1 on the week. She
scored 30 and 28 points, respectively, in wins over Upper Iowa
and Wisconsin Lutheran.

Men’s Basketball – Central College sophomore
forward James Chapline (Ogden, Iowa/Ogden)
hit 15 of 16 free throws in a win over Knox, coming within three
made free throws of a Central single-game school record. He
averaged 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds as the Dutch went 1-1
during the week.

Men’s Basketball – Loras College senior
guard Ricky Kolze (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) averaged
17.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.5 steals as the
Duhawks went 1-1 during the week. He shot 46.7 percent (14 of
30) from the field and was 50.0 percent from behind the arc
(7 of 14).
