Feb. 25

Dana Klemm, Loras College, Gurnee, Ill./Warren
Klemm, a senior, repeated as Conference Indoor Track Most Valuable Performer after repeating as Conference Champion in both the weight throw and shot put. She broke her own Conference record and automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships in the weight throw with a mark of 17.28 meters. She won the shot put with a mark of 13.81 meters.

Feb. 18

Jessica Bates, Wartburg College, Indianola, Iowa/Indianola
Bates, a junior, won both the weight throw and shot put at the University of Iowa Invitational. She provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the weight throw with a mark of 55-feet 8.25-inches, setting a Wartburg school record and defeating among others, Iowa’s Becca Franklin, a former top-15 finisher in the Big Ten. Bates’ posted a mark of 41-feet 4.5-inches in the shot put.

Feb. 11

KeAnna Martin, Buena Vista Univ., St. Louis, Mo./Gateway Inst. of Tech.
Martin, a junior, won three individual events and finished in the top-6 of five total events at Buena Vista’s Dennis Young Classic. She provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 55-meter dash with a finish of 7.31 seconds, the top time in the IIAC to date. She also won the 200-meter dash with the Conference’s top time to date, 26.04 seconds, and won the 400-meter dash in 60.42 seconds. Martin was also a member of the 4x200 and 4x400 relays that finished second and sixth, respectively in times of 1:48.32 and 4:21.67 with splits of 25.46 and 60.44.

Feb. 4

Hannah Baker, Wartburg College, Keota, Iowa/Keota
Baker, a freshman, recorded NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the 400-meter dash and as a member of the 4x400 relay team at the Minnesota State-Mankato Open. She finished second in the 400-meters in a time of 57.87, just 51-hundredths of a second behind the winner from the Division II hosts. Baker also ran the lead leg of the winning 4x400 team whose time (3:55.59) was just 59-hundredths off an automatic qualifying time. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Jan. 28

KeAnna Martin, Buena Vista Univ. St. Louis, Mo./Gateway Inst. of Tech.
Martin, a junior, had four top-three finishes at the Buena Vista Open, including three first-place finishes. She won the 55-meter dash (7.52 seconds), the 300-meter dash (42.01 seconds) and ran the lead leg of the winning 4x200 relay team (1:49.96). She broke a 16-year-old school record with her finish in the 300-meters. Martin was also a member of the third-place finishing 4x400 relay team (4:16.90).

Jan. 21

Dana Klemm, Loras College, Gurnee, Ill./Warren
Klemm, a senior, provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the shot put and weight throw in her first competition of the year at the UW-Platteville Pioneer Open. She won both events with marks of 13.54 meters in the shot and 16.0 meters in the weight throw.

Jan. 14

Suzi Anderson, Simpson College, Albia, Iowa/Albia
Anderson, a junior, had four top-four finishes at the Graceland Invitational including a pair of first-place finishes. She won the 200-meter dash in 27.86 seconds and was a member of the winning 4x400 relay team that finished in 4:22.55. Anderson also placed second in the long jump (16-5.75) and fourth in the high jump (4-11.75).
