Nov. 5

Tara Christensen, Simpson College, Hinton, Iowa/Hinton
Christensen, a freshman setter, helped Simpson clinch a share of the Iowa Conference regular season title and win the Conference Tournament to earn its first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 1997. In the regular season finale against Loras, Christensen had 60 assists and 12 digs in a 3-1 victory. In a 3-2 semifinal win over Wartburg, she had 69 assists and 13 digs. Oct. 29

Jessica Martin, Simpson College, Toledo, Iowa/South Tama
Martin, a senior middle hitter, averaged 3.33 kills, 5.50 digs and 1.17 blocks per game in five matches during the week. She posted a triple-double in Simpson’s 3-2 win over Wisconsin-Platteville with 31 digs, 16 kills and 10 blocks. She also had double-doubles in wins over Dubuque (26 digs, 15 kills) and Carroll (22 digs, 13 kils). Martin also had 10 digs in a win over Edgewood and a loss to Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Oct. 22
Kate Sievers, Loras College, Miles, Iowa/East Central
Sievers, a senior outside hitter, hit .298 while averaging 5.08 kills and 1.46 digs per game in six matches during the week. In a 3-2 Conference win over Buena Vista, she had a school-record 34 kills, nine digs and three blocks, while hitting .296. In a pair of losses to nationally ranked Wisconsin-Platteville and St. Thomas (Minn.) she had 14 and 19 kills, respectively. Sievers hit .315 with 20 kills, 10 service aces, five digs and four blocks in a 3-2 win over Dubuque. She had her best hitting performance of the week in a 3-0 win over St. Mary’s (Minn.), hitting .475 with 20 kills and five digs. She finished the week with a 15-kill, seven-dig performance in a 3-1 win over Clarke in which she hit .268.
Oct. 15
Jena Goedken, University of Dubuque, Lamont, Iowa/Starmount
Goedken, a junior middle hitter, hit .465 and averaged 6.27 kills, 1.67 blocks and 1.20 digs per game in four matches. She had 14 kills and hit .194 in a Conference loss to Central then went on to hit over .500 in three straight matches at the Wellesley Invitational. She hit .538 with 26 kills, 11 blocks and six digs in a 3-1 win over Wellesley. In a 3-2 win over Nazareth, Goedken hit .542 with 38 kills, five blocks and eight digs; and hit .560 with 16 kills, seven blocks and four digs in a 3-0 win over Bridgewater State.

Kristy Upah, Coe College, Toledo, Iowa/South Tama
Upah, a junior setter, averaged 12.5 assists in five matches during the week and was named Most Valuable Player of the IIAC-MIAC Border Battle at Coe. She set a school record for assists in a three-game match with her 49 against Macalester.
Oct. 1
Terri Berger, Central College, Sioux City, Iowa/Heelan
Berger, a junior setter, averaged 12.21 assists per game in five matches including four 30-plus assist matches. In Central’s 3-0 win over Wartburg, she had 38 assists along with 11 digs, seven kills and four blocks. Playing just two games of a 3-1 win over Benedictine (Ill.), she recorded 29 assists. Berger had 40 assists and seven service aces in the Dutch’s lone loss of the week, a 3-1 decision to Trinity (Texas). She finished the week with a pair of 32 assist performances, 3-0 sweeps of Franklin and Marshall and Sul Ross State.
Sept. 24
Emily Ita, Coe College, Burlington, Iowa/Burlington
Ita, a junior middle hitter, hit .448 and averaged 3.37 kills and 1.05 blocks per game during the week, earning All-Tournament Team honors at the Central Invitational. Coe went 5-0 during the week, improving to 13-2 on the season, the quickest to 13 wins in school history. In a 3-0 Conference win over Buena Vista, Ita hit .529 with nine kills and three blocks. She had 12 kills, four digs and four blocks in the Kohawks’ 3-2 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater, their second win of the season over the defending National Champions. Ita hit .324 with 16 kills, six digs and five blocks in a 3-2 win over the University of Chicago. She finished the week with a .630 hitting percentage, 17 kills and four blocks in a 3-0 win over William Penn, and a .250 hitting percentage, 10 kills, three digs and four blocks in a 3-0 win over Bethany Lutheran.
Sept. 17
Jena Goedken, University of Dubuque, Lamont, Iowa/Starmount
Goedken, a junior middle blocker, hit. 607 while averaging 6.8 kills, 2.0 blocks and 1.6 digs per game in five matches during the week. She hit over .600 and had 20-plus kills in four of five matches. In a 3-0 Conference win over Cornell, she hit .652 with 16 kills, five blocks, and four aces. In the final three matches at the University of Chicago Gargoyle Classic, she had 20, 21 and 22 kills in wins over Illinois College (3-0), North Park (3-1) and Concordia, Ill. (3-0) while hitting .692, .667 and .714 in the respective matches. She had six blocks in each of the three contests. In Dubuque’s only loss of the week, 3-2 to Lake Forest to open the Gargoyle Classic, Goedken had a double-double with 23 kills and 12 digs to go along with seven blocks and .415 hitting percentage.
Sept. 10
Tiffany Everding, Simpson College, Tripoli, Iowa/Tripoli
Everding, a senior outside hitter, hit .404, and averaged 4.65 kills and 3.00 digs per game during the week. She led the Storm to a 3-0 victory over #17-ranked Central, ending the Dutch’s 37-match Iowa Conference win streak. She hit .633 with 21 kills and just two errors on 30 total attacks, and had nine digs in the match. Everding also hit over .400 in three of four matches at the UW-Platteville Invitational to earn All-Tournament Team honors. In a 3-1 win over Augustana (Ill.), she had 18 kills, a .444 hitting percentage, 17 digs and four aces. In sweeps of Lawrence and Edgewood, she hit .538 and .417, respectively. She had nine kills and six digs against Lawrence, and 10 kills (no errors), seven digs and three aces against Edgewood. In a losing effort against Monmouth (Ill.), Everding had 21 kills, 12 digs and hit .224.

Sept. 3
Tiffany Everding, Simpson College, Tripoli, Iowa/Tripoli
Everding, a senior outside hitter, became the sixth player in school history to record 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career kills after amassing 72 kills at the Elmhurst Invitational. In four matches at the Invitational, she hit .287, averaged 4.24 kills and 2.94 digs per game. She had double-doubles in a 3-2 win over Augustana (13 kills, 14 digs), a 3-1 win over Adrian (24 kills, 15 digs) and a 3-1 loss to Carthage (18 kills, 21 digs). In the third-place match against Elmhurst (a 3-1 Simpson win), she had 17 kills and seven blocks.
