Kate Russell, Loras College, Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock
Russell, a sophomore outside hitter, posted 20 kills in three straight matches last week, including two in the IIAC Tournament, to lead the Loras attack. The Duhawks won their second IIAC Tournament title and qualified for their first NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 win over Simpson in the tournament championship match. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)

Nov. 2, 2008

Lindsay Schneider, Wartburg College, Lowden, Iowa/North Cedar
Schneider, a senior, turned in 30 kills, a rally-scoring era program best, as Wartburg upended Luther in four sets Oct. 28. She moved into first on the team in kills (355) with her effort and currently has a string of four consecutive double-digit kill matches.

Emily Cory, Luther College, Indianola, Iowa/Indianola
Cory, a freshman outside hitter, was named to the all-tournament team at the UW-La Crosse Invitational after posting 59 kills in 14 sets (4.21 kills/set). She tallied 23 kills in a four-set victory over No. 7 Carthage, 16 kills in a four-set loss to No. 8 Cal State East Bay, and 10 each three-set loss to UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh. Oct. 19, 2008

Laura Dudgeon, Cornell College, Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf
Dudgeon, a junior middle hitter, led Cornell to a perfect 3-0 week with sweeps over Dubuque, Mount Mercy and Ashford. She averaged 4.67 kills per set and hit .474.

Oct. 12, 2008

Miranda Kouba, Central College, Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert
Kouba, a senior outside hitter, posted 61 kills and 51 digs with a .349 attack percentage as the Dutch posted a 2-3 record during the week. She was named to the All-tournament team at the Minnesota section of the IIAC-MIAC Border Battle in St. Paul after averaging 3.43 kills per set, including 19 in a five-set win over Bethel (Minn.). Kouba also totaled six blocks during the week.

Tara Christensen, Simpson College, Hinton, Iowa/Hinton
Christensen, a junior setter, posted 166 assists, 45 digs, and 24 kills as the Storm went 4-1 in five matches last week. She was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Augustana (Ill.) Invitational after averaging 9.71 assists and 2.79 digs, including season highs with 50 assists and 15 digs against host Augustana (Ill.).

Kate Russell, Loras College, Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock
Russell, a sophomore outside hitter, posted 86 kills with a .497 attack percentage in 19 sets as the Duhawks posted a 4-1 record on the week. She also accumulated 42 digs and combined on 17 blocks (2 solo).

Laura Dudgeon, Cornell College, Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf
Dudgeon, a junior middle hitter, averaged 3.25 kills with a .412 attack percentage in leading the Rams to a 2-0 mark last week. Dudgeon moved into fourth place on Cornell’s career kills list with 770. Cornell’s current six-match winning streak equals the longest during head coach Jeff Meeker’s seven seasons at the helm.

Kristin Paczosa, Cornell College, Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove
Paczosa, a junior outside hitter, led the Rams to a 4-0 record in taking the team championship at the Beloit Buc Blast Sept. 13-14. The Rams outlasted Monmouth in five games in the title match, avenging a home loss to the Fighting Scots three days earlier. Paczosa totaled 59 kills (3.69 kills/set) with a .375 attack percentage in the tournament.

Jenny Dziubla, Loras College, Bartlett, Ill./St. Edward Central
Dziubla, a senior setter, was named Tournament MVP at the Saint Mary’s (Minn.) Sugar Loaf Classic. In four matches, she threw up 152 assists, made 59 digs, and figured in 17 blocks. Dziubla also made 13 kills, including seven in a five-set loss to Luther in the tournament championship match.

Shayla Chalker, Coe College, Melbourne, Australia/Upwey
Chalker, a senior outside hitter, tallied 64 kills in four matches over the weekend along with 33 assists and 63 digs. She also added 7 service aces and 11 blocks. She posted 28 kills and 23 digs in a five-set loss to Centre (Ky.) Aug. 29, then followed that up with 22 kills, 22 assists, and 22 digs in a five-set win over Transylvania (Ky.) Aug. 30. Chalker also added eight kills against Elmhurst and six against Hope.
